History
Brief:
On 4 October 1660 the Court was petitioned to approve the settling of a Plantation at Thirty Mile Island. The bounds were laid out 1668 and the plantation named, Haddum. The town, whose name evolved to Haddam, belonged to Hartford County until 1785 when Middlesex County was formed. Town vital records begin 1668. Barbour collection records cover 1668-1852.
