History
Brief:
Lies on land settled by the founders of New Haven in 1638. It constituted the western part of New Haven Village in 1669. The General Assembly established the Parish of New Cheshire in May 1724 and land lying between Farmington and Wallingford was annexed. Cheshire was separated from Wallingford and incorporated in 1780. Town vital records begin 1752. Barbour collection records cover 1780-1840.
