History Brief:
The town of Farmington acquired a large tract of land on 9 April 1650 from Sequassen that covered many later towns including Bristol. The section, (along with Burlington) was known, as Farmington West Woods or Great Woods, became the Parish of New Cambridge in May 1744. In 1785 it was incorporated as the town of Bristol.
