History
Brief:
People from Windsor settled this land on the Tunxis River by 1663. In 1666 lots were laid out from Nod Meadow (Avon) to Hop Meadow. By 1670, areas of Windsor called Weatoque, Hop Meadow, Terry�s Plain and The Falls, petitioned for town privileges. The area was known as Massaco Plantation. In May 1670, the Court ordered that Massaco Plantation be named, Simsbury, but locally it continued to be known as Massaco until 1742. Town vital records begin 1670.
